Route 395 to exit 85. (From 395 north, make a left at light (Rt. 164)
1/4 mile on left to school entrance ~ 395 south, make right at light (Rt.
138) left at light, 1st right to school entrance). Take your first
right, then a left into the Griswold Nature Trail parking lot. In
the far left corner of the parking lot is a wooden bulletin
board. You will find maps for the Nature Trail here.
Proceed up hill and through a small patch of trees following the "Orange
Trail". Cross street and into woods. Take the "Orange Trail" to your
right. A nice scenic trial but with lots of tree roots crossing your
path. There are markers along the trail that identify the many plants and
wildlife along the way as well as several wooden foot bridges to
cross.
After about a ten minute hike, take the "White Trail" on your left.
You will meet up with the "Orange Trail" again after a short distance. Go
right on the "Orange Trail". You will come along a stone wall in the
trail. Turn right at the stone wall and go approximately 10 paces.
The treasure you seek in on the left, move a rock then take a rest!
Return to the path. Go right on the "Orange Trail" to hike the rest
of the trail back to the entrance (about a 1/2 mile) or go left
on the "Orange Trial" for a shorter walk back to the entrance.
Enjoy your hike and thanks for visiting us!
